PMD user, 76, gets hit by truck in Ubi, escapes with minor injuries & declines to be sent to hospital
Police investigations are ongoing.
A personal mobility device (PMD) rider sustained minor injuries after being struck by a truck along Ubi Road 1 towards Ubi Road 2 on the afternoon of Nov. 26.
Footage of the accident was later uploaded on Facebook group SG Road Vigilante.
What happened
In the video, the man can be seen riding his PMD across a carpark entrance just as a truck drives down a slope to get out of the carpark.
As the PMD rider reached the middle of the carpark entrance, the truck collided into the PMD, causing him to be stuck between the truck and the ground.
He can be seen supporting himself with his right hand on the ground, and holding onto the truck with his left hand.
The man fell on his back as the truck backed away.
He then sat up while the truck driver and a passer-by went to check on him.
Declined to be sent to hospital
The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed with Mothership that they were alerted to the accident at Ubi Road 1 at 3:15pm.
A 76-year-old male PMD rider sustained minor injuries but refused conveyance to the hospital, police said.
Police investigations are ongoing.
