PM Wong meets President Xi Jinping
It marked the first meeting between the two politicians since PM Wong assumed his prime minister role in May 2024.
"Singapore and China share a close and multifaceted relationship," said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, citing how China is Singapore’s largest trading partner in goods while Singapore is China’s largest foreign investor.
PM Wong met with China's President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Lima on Nov. 15.
It marked the first meeting between the two politicians since PM Wong assumed his role in May 2024.

PM Wong said in a Facebook post that "Singapore and China share a close and multifaceted relationship, which was upgraded to an 'All-Round High-Quality Future-Oriented Partnership' last year".
He said as the two countries mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2025, he looked forward to working with President Xi to further strengthen cooperation and take the two countries' relations to greater heights.
According to Chinese news outlet China Global Television Network (CGTN), President Xi said the two also discussed expanding cooperation in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and green development.
China's president added China is willing to strengthen collaboration with Singapore in multilateral platforms such as the United Nations and APEC to promote a world characterized by equality and order, as well as inclusive and mutually beneficial economic globalization.
