Pizza Hut in China selling pizza with whole fried frog topping
This has usurped the debate on whether pineapple belongs on pizza.
Pizza Hut in China has once and for all ended the discussion of whether pineapples belong on pizza.
It is serving a whole fried frog as a pizza topping.
The unconventional "Goblin Pizza" features a whole deep-fried bullfrog.
Diners have been left stunned by the amphibian cuisine.
Collaboration with 'Dungeon & Fighter' video games
Pizza Hut in China announced the frog pizza's launch in a WeChat post on Nov. 18.
The dish, christened the "Goblin Pizza", is part of the pizza chain's collaboration with the popular mobile game "Dungeon & Fighter: Origins".
The pizza features a spicy, mala-flavoured base, and is topped with a whole bullfrog and a generous amount of coriander.
It was made available for pre-order from Nov. 18 to 20 on three select platforms, according to Pizza Hut on Weibo.
As part of the promotion, customers had to sign up via Pizza Hut's mini-programme on their official application, and register for the limited edition package, which was priced at 169 yuan (S$31).
The pizza became available for order nationwide on Nov. 21.
The event also ties into the game's narrative, where a fictional squad of goblins stumble upon Pizza Hut during their quest, and meet a character named Celia, who is preparing a banquet.
Players are encouraged to visit Pizza Hut and have a first-hand feel of the experience.
Pizza design game-inspired
The pizza’s design is inspired by the goblins in the game.

Chinese online users react
Many online users were intrigued by the pizza’s unconventional ingredients, with some even questioning whether such a dish could truly be edible.
A Weibo user vlogged his reaction to the new pizza menu item on Nov. 21, saying, "How could it be possible for a human to come up with this concept?"
In the video, he shared how the frog's "eyes" were made of egg halves with olives as pupils, and sauce was used to mimic blood vessels.
While the pizza was topped with a whole bullfrog as advertised, the actual pizza looked nowhere near as polished as the one seen in the promotional photo, as many other online commenters pointed out.
One commenter humorously wrote on Pizza Hut China's page that the only ones with question marks were the customers.
Others called for the Italians to comment on this bizarre concoction, with one user even tagging the Italian embassy in China on Weibo and jokingly urging them to intervene, "Please send troops, your excellency!"
Pizza Hut China comments
A customer service representative from Pizza Hut China told Chinese media that the company is aware of online comments regarding the pizza.
Pizza Hut China mentioned that they have escalated such comments to the upper management, but no member of the public had called in to lodge a complaint as of Nov. 19.
Not the only bizarre pizza
Some online users compared the dish to the bizarre pizza creations of Pizza Hut Taiwan, which is known for its unconventional pizza styles.
On Mar. 21, Pizza Hut Taiwan launched a turtle-shaped pizza, which also went viral, but more for its unconventional look, as it was not made from actual turtle parts.
