Mercedes drives against flow of traffic in Woodlands & hits road divider, narrowly misses cyclists
Uh oh.
A group of cyclists narrowly avoided a collision with a Mercedes car driving against the flow of traffic along Woodlands Centre Road on Oct. 30.
A video of the incident from what appeared to be a cyclist's camera was shared on the Facebook group Roads.sg.
Driving against flow of traffic
In the video, four cyclists could be seen riding in the inner right lane.
They quickly moved to the left to avoid the oncoming car, which eventually came to a stop after hitting a road divider.
According to the caption, the cyclists had intended to turn right but were forced to filter to the left lane to avoid a potential accident.
"Such irresponsible driving is totally unacceptable and will potentially cause danger to other road user," the caption stated.
Commenters criticised cyclists
Many commenters also pointed out that the cyclists should not have been riding in the right lane in such a manner.
Cyclists turning right in such situations should show the right turn hand signal at least 50m before junction.
However, some users pointed out that the cyclists were fortunate to have escaped without an accident.
