A fire broke out at the balcony area of a Marina Bay Sands (MBS) Tower 3 hotel room at around 9pm on Nov. 10.

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), who was alerted to the fire at around 9:25pm, the room is located on the 12th floor and "was under renovation".

An MBS spokesperson also told Mothership that the room was "unoccupied" at the time.

Fire caught on camera

The blaze was caught on camera by an onlooker outside the hotel, and the footage was subsequently uploaded onto TikTok.

In the video, smoke could be seen coming out from the 12th-floor hotel room.

None of the rooms on the floor had their lights switched on.

MBS staff extinguished fire

Upon discovering the fire, MBS' Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) extinguished it with two hose reels before SCDF's arrival.

No one was injured in this incident, said the MBS spokesperson.

SCDF added that the cause of the fire is under investigation.

"We are investigating the cause of the fire with the authorities," added the MBS spokesperson.

MBS undergoing facelift

During a Nov. 7 press event, MBS announced it had reached a milestone for its US$1.75 billion (S$2.3 billion) reinvestment programme by completing the Paiza Collection across all three hotel towers.

Rooms and suites under the collection "are typically reserved for valued guests and members" of MBS and will be served by Singapore's largest butler team of 160.

According to MBS, approximately 1,540 new rooms, including 635 suites, had been completed as of Nov. 7.

Upon full completion, there will be around 1,850 rooms, including 775 suites, at the hotel, up from its original number of 180 suites.
