Man, 53, found floating in Kallang River, conveyed unconscious to hospital & pronounced dead
A witness saw the man struggling and calling for help in the water.
A 53-year-old man was found floating in the Kallang River near midnight on Nov. 16.
He was pulled from the waters and conveyed unconscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), where he subsequently passed away.
Responding to Mothership's queries, the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they received a call for water rescue assistance at about 11:10pm near Geylang Bahru.
According to 8world, residents saw fire engines, ambulances, and police officers at the riverbank near Block 39A Bendemeer Road.
The area was also cordoned off.
A witness told the news outlet that a man was see struggling and calling for help in the water.
Several police officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) were present at the scene, reported Shin Min Daily News.
A red personal mobility aid (PMA) was found along the riverside within the cordoned area, and was later taken away as evidence.
"Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play. Police investigations are ongoing," the authorities said.
