Preliminary investigations revealed that at least four other vehicles in the vicinity were affected by the same act.

The identity of the man was established with the aid of images from police cameras and the man was arrested within eight hours of the report.

The man will be charged in court on Nov. 21 with the offence of public nuisance.

The offence carries a jail term of up to three months, a fine of up to S$2,000, or with both.

What flyer said

A photo of the flyer left on the vehicles has been circulated online.

According to the contents of the flyer, the act of deflating the tyres was linked to a movement by a climate activist group known as "Tire Extinguishers" that is opposed to the use of sport utility vehicles (SUVs).
