Man, 36, arrested for drink driving after vehicle hit rear of bus along Commonwealth Ave West
The bus was "off-service" when the incident occurred, said SBS Transit.
A 36-year-old male driver was arrested for drink driving after his vehicle rear-ended an SBS Transit bus along Commonwealth Avenue West at around 12:20am on Nov. 13.
The aftermath of the incident was caught on camera by an onlooker, and the photo was subsequently shared with Shin Min Daily News.
What photo showed
As seen in the photo, the vehicle involved a red Toyota car, reported Shin Min.
The vehicle appeared to belong to Liechtenstein-based construction company Hilti.
As a result of the collision, the front of the vehicle was severely damaged, and its bonnet was open.
Parts of the car could be seen on the road.
The front row passenger airbag was activated.
The bumper of the bus had fallen off.
The bus captain could be seen standing next to the vehicle with a person dressed in black.
Onlooker heard 'loud sound'
The onlooker told Shin Min he was resting at home when he suddenly heard "a loud sound".
He subsequently looked out of his window and saw the aftermath of the collision.
The onlooker surmised that the bus was on its way back to the depot, as there were no passengers on board.
Police, SBS Transit statements
In response to Mothership's queries, SBS Transit spokesperson Grace Wu said the incident involved one of its off-service buses.
"The bus captain was unhurt, and the police were on-site to attend the accident," added Wu.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed they were alerted to the collision.
The vehicle driver suffered minor injuries but did not require conveyance to the hospital.
He was subsequently arrested.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Mothership has reached out to Hilti Singapore for comments.
