Man, 29, arrested for injuring 2 men, aged 28 & 30, who accused him of molestation at Paya Lebar mall
The two men were conveyed conscious to Changi General Hospital.
A 28-year-old man and a 30-year-old man were walking out of a toilet at Kinex mall on Nov. 9 night when a male stranger "suddenly pushed the older man against the wall".
The stranger, 29, was then accused of touching the private parts of the 30-year-old man, named Dan (transliteration), reported Shin Min Daily News.
However, when Dan and the youngest man, Sam (transliteration), confronted the alleged perpetrator, he apparently refuted their allegations and left the scene.
Fearing that he would flee, Dan and Sam followed the alleged perpetrator, and a fight subsequently broke out amongst the three men.
As a result, Dan and Sam were injured, and were conveyed conscious to Changi General Hospital (CGH).
After police arrived at the scene, the alleged perpetrator was arrested for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
What happened
Speaking to Shin Min, Sam's fiancée, surnamed Chen (transliteration), said the alleged molest occurred at a third-floor toilet at the mall at around 9:45pm on Nov. 9.
After allegedly touching Dan inappropriately, the alleged perpetrator "turned around and entered the toilet", leaving Dan and Sam "completely stunned by the sudden turn of events".
Upon gathering their thoughts, the two men immediately asked the alleged perpetrator "to stay where he was" and "blocked the toilet's exit to prevent him from leaving", said Chen.
When the alleged perpetrator "denied any wrongdoing" and "proceeded to walk away", Dan and Sam alerted the police and followed him to an elevator entrance.
Allegedly touched Dan's & Sam's cheeks during altercation
An altercation subsequently ensued amongst the three men, and the scene was caught on camera, according to Shin Min.
According to the video, the alleged perpetrator was seen signalling for Dan and Sam to come to him.
He then walked towards the camera, and the recording ended, reported Shin Min.
At one point, the alleged perpetrator also allegedly touched Dan's and Sam's cheeks with his hand, while adding that he would "never molest them", said Chen.
Allegedly injured Dan & Sam
Later on, the dispute escalated into a physical altercation, with Dan and Sam accusing the alleged perpetrator of biting and scratching them, reported Shin Min.
After they were conveyed to CGH, the doctors confirmed that Dan's face was scratched.
They also diagnosed Sam with having sustained multiple injuries.
His palm and scalp were apparently bitten.
According to Chen, Sam's shoulder had also been dislocated, and he was issued 23 days of medical leave.
"He could no longer work as usual, and the doctors said he might have to undergo surgery," lamented Chen.
Fight damaged mall's Christmas decorations
When Shin Min reporters visited the scene of the incident on Nov. 13 afternoon, an accessory shop employee said the men's fight had damaged several Christmas decorations at the mall.
In a photo provided by the employee, two Christmas trees on display were seen lying on the ground, and the stand's fence had been damaged.
"We had since reported the damage to the mall management," shared the employee.
Another employee who worked at a bar also said he heard the men's altercation and saw someone getting bitten on his head and hand on Nov. 9.
The employee added that several police officers arrived at the scene afterwards to conduct investigations, which lasted more than two hours.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed with Mothership that they received a call for assistance regarding the incident at around 9:45pm on Saturday.
Police investigations are ongoing.
