M'sian man, 35, in ICU after SLE crash, worked at chicken rice shop in Yishun
His family is appealing for dashcam footage of the accident.
A 35-year-old Malaysian man who was getting a lift on his colleague's motorcycle ended up in the intensive care unit (ICU) in Singapore after an accident along the Seletar Expressway (SLE).
The accident with a trailer occurred after the Woodlands Avenue 2 exit towards Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) on Nov. 18.
The 32-year-old trailer driver was subsequently arrested for careless driving causing grievous hurt.
Victim worked at chicken rice shop in Yishun: Sister
Pillion rider Muhammad Hairul Nizam Soyod, 35, and motorcyclist Hanafi Mis'adi, 23, both worked at a chicken rice shop in Yishun, Malaysia media reported.
Hairul's sister, who also works in Singapore, said the pair were on their way back to Johor Bahru when they were believed to have failed to avoid a trailer that suddenly entered their lane.
Images of the accident showed the motorcycle shattered.
One rider was seen on the road and appeared to have been badly injured.
Both men were conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH).
Family looking for witnesses with dashcam footage
Hairul was warded in the ICU, and had to undergo a second surgery to stop internal bleeding caused by severe injuries to his hip, his sister said.
She added that his wife and two-year-old son have not been able to visit him as they do not have passports.
Hanafi suffered a fractured left leg and has been warded in the hospital's general ward.
The men's family and friends have made an appeal via social media for anyone with dashcam footage of the accident to come forward.
