Saving up for house

Friends and relatives described Adib to China Press as a "good man" who had been diligently saving money to buy a house for his family.

However, they lamented that “fate extinguished his dream”.

To ease his daily commute to Singapore, Adib and his wife moved to Pasir Gudang, Johor, a few years ago and rented a house there. His wife, a primary school teacher, works locally, and the couple has a three-year-old daughter.

The truck driver told police during questioning that the collision occurred after he lost control of his vehicle due to a sudden burst in his right front tyre, causing the truck to veer into the opposite lane, The Star reported.

A subsequent urine test cleared the driver of drug use, but he has been remanded for further investigation.
