M'sia woman, 28, found dead under bed, family offers S$9,000 reward for witnesses
Her body was discovered by her eight-year-old sister-in-law.
A 28-year-old woman in Kuantan, Malaysia, was found dead under her bed by her eight-year-old sister-in-law on Aug. 14, 2024.
Following the discovery, Malaysian police launched an investigation, classifying the death of Wu Chu Ni (transliteration) as murder.
However, three months later, the killer remains at large.
In a desperate bid to find answers, the woman's grieving father and husband are now offering a reward of RM30,000 (S$9069) to anyone who can provide information that will help solve the case.
What happened
On the morning of Aug. 14, 2024, the woman lost contact with her family after dropping her 3-year-old son off at kindergarten around 9am, according to China Press.
Her 62-year-old father reported her missing around 3pm the same day.
"She last communicated with us via WhatsApp at 8:30 am," Wu's father had told the media on Aug. 15.
However, later that evening, Wu's husband, 27, received a call from his eight-year-old sister, who had been looking for a mobile phone charging cable.
She informed him that she had found the woman’s body under the bed.
Heartbreaking for family
Speaking to China Press, Wu's father expressed the heartbreak and confusion his family continues to experience after the tragic event.
He said that he still didn't know who did it or what the motive was for killing his daughter "so cruelly".
Wu, the third daughter in the family, had always maintained a close relationship with her mother and communicated with her daily.
On the day of the incident, Wu's father recalled that his daughter had contacted his wife as usual, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
He described her as a well-behaved and quiet person, adding that she had met her husband, a Chinese national while working at the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park a few years ago.
After their marriage, she became a full-time housewife, and they had a young son together.
"She has a harmonious relationship with her husband, and I have never heard her complain about him," he said.
Following the discovery of her body, several family members, including Wu's father and husband, were detained for questioning by the police.
All of them were able to provide alibis for the time of the crime and were released after 21 days of detention.
Reward for information
"It has been three months since the incident happened and the police investigation has not made any progress. We really hope to find out the truth as soon as possible," Wu said.
In an effort to encourage information that might lead to the killer's identification, Wu and his family have decided to offer a reward of RM30,000 (S$9069).
“If the public has any relevant information, please contact the Kuantan police at 09-5132222 or the case investigator,” he said.
