Cat tied to rope & dragged in Kuala Lumpur, man, 47, later arrested
He will be remanded for investigations.
A video of a man dragging a cat tied to a rope around its neck has sparked outrage in Malaysia.
In the video posted on Nov. 23 by the Malaysia Animal Association on Facebook, the man could be seen dragging the distressed feline.
The cat collapsed at one point, appearing to leave a trail of urine.
A police report was later lodged and the man was arrested on Nov. 24, Malaysia police told New Straits Times.
The video
In the video, the cat can be seen resisting and crying in pain as the man walked and dragged it nonchalantly.
The cat then collapsed to its side and left a trail of urine.
The incident reportedly took place at a condominium in Old Klang Road, Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia Animal Association president Arie Dwi Andika had said in the caption that they are offering RM3,000 (S$907) reward to the main witness who can come forward to lodge a police report and serve as a witness until the man is successfully prosecuted and sentenced.
Man arrested
City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa told NST that police have arrested the man captured in the video on Nov. 24.
The 43-year-old man was arrested at around 6:10pm at his residence.
He will be remanded for investigations under the crime of mischief by killing or maiming an animal.
