On a rainy day in Singapore, residents of a Tampines Housing and Development Board (HDB) block were greeted by a strange sight.
One of their lifts had water leaking from the ceilingĀ on the afternoon of Nov. 22.
A Mothership reader said that his wife saw the leaking lift at around 3:05pm when they were delivering parcels to Block 450D, along Tampines Street 42.
There was also rainwater dripping continuously from the ceiling, he said.
As the other lift at the 11-storey block had been closed for maintenance at the time, his wife had to take the stairs to complete the delivery.
Leaky lift closed for maintenance
When the reader returned at 5:30pm, both lifts were closed for maintenance.
Town council service crew were working to remove accumulated water from the lift with the leak, he said.
Staff were also heard telling residents and delivery personnel that they would have to take the stairs for the time being.
Mothership has reached out to Tampines Town Council for comment.
