A new Japanese restaurant has opened at IMM.
Hakata Mentai Yamaya Kitchen serves Japanese dishes featuring mentaiko (spicy cod roe) from the Hakata region.

The mentaiko is made by salting pollack roe and marinating it in a special sauce with chilli peppers and other spices.

Since 1988, Yamaya has expanded to 45 locations across Japan, with 12 international outlets in South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the U.S.
The menu includes a variety of udon, rice sets, and omu rice (omelette rice), all featuring its signature mentaiko.

Here's what we tried:
Chicken Cutlet Rice Set (S$15.90++)
A rice set with crispy chicken cutlet, accompanied by mentai sauce, mentai mayo, takana (pickled mustard greens), mentaiko, miso soup and crispy karaage.

Mentai Egg Drop Udon (S$11.90++)

Opening promotion
Customers who purchase any main dish can receive free-flow mentaiko, takana, miso soup and rice.
According to the store, the promotion is expected to run until the end of December.
Yamaya Kitchen will open a second outlet at Paya Lebar Square by the end of November 2024.
