UPDATE on Nov. 12 at 6:40pm: This article has been updated with a statement from GetGo.

After a GetGo car crashed into a road divider at Bedok Reservoir in the wee hours of the morning of Nov. 9, its driver fled.

Police confirmed with Mothership that at about 1:55am, they were alerted to an accident involving a car which was believed to have self-skidded along Bedok Reservoir Road.

Police subsequently seized knives, e-vaporisers, and drug-related paraphernalia from the car.

Driver left scene before police arrived

A hawker surnamed Huang (transliteration from Chinese) told Shin Min Daily News (Shin Min) that he was on the way to open his stall when he came across the accident scene at around 1:45am.

Seeing that a car had crashed into the road divider, Huang stopped by the roadside to take a closer look.

A picture shared by Huang showed a white GetGo car that had crashed on a section of the road divider.

The car's hood had crumpled inwards from the impact, with debris scattered across the road.

Petrol appeared to be leaking out from the car onto the road.

Huang added he heard from construction workers at the scene that the driver left the car behind after the accident.

A Shin Min reporter observed later that day that about 10 metres of the barrier had been damaged.

Suspected drug, e-vaporiser-related offences

Police told Mothership that the driver left the scene before officers arrived.

Three knives, two e-vaporisers and drug-related paraphernalia were found in the car.

Efforts to trace the car driver are underway.

The suspected drug-related offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau, while the e-vaporiser-related offence has been referred to the Health Sciences Authority.

Investigations are ongoing.

"We are also fully cooperating with the police as they proceed with their investigation. As this is an ongoing case, we are unable to provide further comment at this time", the spokesperson added.
