The tiny town of Dixville Notch, Hampshire, cast its votes in the U.S. presidential election.

And it has resulted in a tie.

Dixville Notch has a tradition of "midnight voting", which means its total population of six registered voters cast their votes in the early hours of election day, with their ballots opened and counted quickly.

Donald Trump won three of the votes cast, while Kamala Harris took the other three votes.

The first in the nation result therefore officially ended in a tie.

Back in 2020, Joe Biden won all the votes cast in Dixville Notch, with just five voters at the time.

This means Trump improved upon his 2020 performance in Dixville Notch.

However, the town has four registered Republicans and two independent voters, which means at least one registered Republican voted for Kamala Harris.
