Cruise to 140 countries for next 4 years to escape Trump presidency now available
Prices for the four-year long voyage start at S$215,000.
Following the election victory of U.S. president-elect Donald Trump on Nov. 6, one cruise company is providing U.S. citizens with an opportunity to escape his presidency in the form of a four-year trip around the world.
In a press release on Nov. 7, residential cruise operator Villa Vie Residences announced the launch of a programme, Tour La Vie.
While the company made no mention of the U.S. presidential elections in its press release, one of the packages under the programme is a four-year-long cruise called "Skip Forward", which will take them to 425 ports across 140 countries and all seven continents.
Meanwhile, its year-long package is called "Escape from Reality", while its three-year package is called "Everywhere but Home".
Prices for the four-year voyage are US$159,999 (S$215,000) per person for a double-occupancy room and US$255,999 (S$344,000) for single occupancy, according to the operator's website.
CEO: Programme "perfect" for Americans seeking to escape
Speaking to Fox Business, the operator's CEO, Mikael Patterson, said the package is "perfect" for Americans seeking to escape.
He said, without naming Trump or Kamala Harris: "Although the campaign was put together before the results of the election, we feel we have a perfect product for those who said they’d leave the country if 'XYZ' wins the election."
The company also launched another package earlier in the year called "Endless Horizons", which was aimed at combating inflation.
At that time, the chief operating officer of Villa Vie Residence, Kathy Villalba, said: "One aspect most people nearing retirement age are concerned about is ongoing living expenses and the possibility of outliving their savings."
"This programme eliminates that concern altogether while offering the ultimate dream: exploring every corner of the world by sea," she added.
