Company falsifies injury records, gets caught & stripped of workplace safety award
There are no monetary rewards.
A company in Singapore was stripped of its workplace safety award after it got caught falsifying its injury records.
Investigations revealed that it had not disclosed the occurrence of two minor injuries for their project, said the Workplace Safety and Health Council (WSHC) in a Nov. 25, 2024 announcement.
The company was not named.
It subsequently had the award rescinded, and was banned from participating in the awards for three years.
In response to Mothership's queries, WSHC — a statutory board under the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) — said that the award is a form of public recognition for companies with "exemplary WSH practices".
It clarified that there are no monetary rewards.
The investigation findings have since been referred to MOM for it to assess if there has been a breach of injury reporting laws, WSHC said.
"We remain committed to upholding the integrity of the WSH Awards, and action will be taken against applicants found to have submitted inaccurate, false or misleading information," it added.
Mothership has reached out to MOM for more information.
