Produced by six students from APSN Katong School, the mural depicts the history of Choa Chu Kang and features historic landmarks like Kampong Belimbing, a military-themed playground in Brickland, and Singapore's first Light Rail Transit (LRT) system, the Bukit Panjang LRT.

The mural also comes with write ups that offer interesting insights about Choa Chu Kang.

For instance, Choa Chu Kang Village was named after the Choa clan that settled near the upper reaches of Sungei Berih.

Choa Chu Kang Village was also the location where the last wild tiger in Singapore was shot and killed in 1930.

The students spent two weeks to create the mural and were guided by a project consultant.

SMRT said that the mural "offers a window into the past, with each scene capturing a different chapter of the neighbourhood’s evolution, from colonial villages with heavy involvement in agricultural activities to modern urban life".

If you would like to check out the mural at Choa Chu Kang MRT station, you may find it near the fare gates towards Exit B.

The mural can also be viewed at Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange.

Heritage-themed comic murals across SMRT-operated networks

Comic Connect is a collaboration between SMRT and members of the local art community to install heritage-themed comic wall murals across 35 SMRT-operated trains stations island-wide.

The project was launched in June 2022 to commemorate the operator's 35th anniversary that year.

The first mural in the series was installed at Toa Payoh MRT station, one of the first five stations to start MRT operations in Singapore in 1987.

The 35 MRT stations that feature Comic Connect murals include Queenstown and Tampines on the East-West Line, Somerset on the North-South Line, and Paya Lebar on the Circle Line.
