The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will conduct a trial to allow bus travellers crossing the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints to clear immigration using QR codes.

ICA said in a Nov. 21 Facebook post that the trial will be held at selected automated lanes and Special Assistance Lanes (SALs) at the arrival and departure bus halls of the two land checkpoints.

Trial lanes for QR code clearance will have signages

The trial will be conducted at Tuas Checkpoint from Nov. 23, 2024, and at Woodlands Checkpoint from Nov. 28, 2024.

Eligible travellers include Singapore citizens, permanent residents (PR), long-term pass holders, and foreign visitors who have previously visited Singapore.

The trial lanes will be indicated by signages placed in the bus halls.

ICA officers will also be on standby to provide assistance.

ICA said eligible bus travellers are encouraged to participate in the trial so as to help finetune processes and improve the traveller experience of the QR code clearance at bus halls.

How to do it

Here are the steps for the QR code clearance:

Step 1: Download MyICA mobile application and select “QR Code at Land Checkpoints”.

Step 2: Generate either an individual or group QR code. Group travellers using the SALs are to generate a group QR code and select “Bus” as the vehicle type.

Step 3: Proceed to the trial lanes and scan the QR code at the passport scanning area.

Step 4: Present your biometrics (facial and iris/ fingerprint) for verification.
