Boy, 2 & woman, 31, taken to hospital after car hit taxi from behind in CTE tunnel
A 27-year-old male car driver is assisting with investigations.
A two-year-old boy and a 31-year-old woman were taken to hospital on Nov. 17 after a car hit a taxi in the Central Expressway (CTE) tunnel in the direction of the Seletar Expressway (SLE) after Cairnhill Road exit at about 8:30pm.
The boy and woman were in the taxi at the time of the incident.
They were conveyed conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and KK Women’s and Children Hospital, said the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Three other people sustained minor injuries.
They declined to be taken to hospital.
One of them, a 27-year-old male car driver, is assisting with investigations.
What video showed
In a video of the accident uploaded online, a red taxi was seen travelling along the left-most lane before filtering into the next lane.
A red car was then seen swerving left before colliding with the taxi’s rear.
The taxi was sent spinning across four lanes.
The cab hit the wall on the right side of the tunnel before coming to a stop.
The red car hit the left side of the tunnel wall and its bonnet was open.
The authorities said the accident involved two cars and a taxi in total.
From the footage, it is unclear which other car was involved.
Police investigations are ongoing.
