A body was retrieved from the waters near Woodlands Waterfront Jetty on Nov. 7 afternoon, where a male crew doing clean-up work was reported to have fallen overboard earlier today.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the man was on board a flotsam retrieval craft when the incident occurred.

The Straits Times reporters at the scene of the incident said they saw a police blue tent at around 4:27pm.

Police officers subsequently brought the deceased's body onto a police hearse, and his family members witnessed the process.

However, the ST report did not state if the deceased was the crew that had fallen into the waters.

Background

Lianhe Zaobao reported that it understands the man's company, which is responsible for carrying out clean-up works at sea, discovered he had gone missing at around 10am on Nov. 7.

When Zaobao reporters arrived at the scene, they saw fire engines and ambulances from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) parked near the jetty.

In response to Mothership's queries, MPA said that they were informed about the incident and had deployed its craft to the area.

The authority also coordinated search efforts with assets from the Police Coast Guard and SCDF, according to the statement.

MPA added that it had also issued navigational broadcast to vessels in the vicinity to keep a lookout for any person in the water.
