Sims Ave hit-&-run: BMW driver, 54, arrested for dangerous driving causing grievous hurt

A 58-year-old male motorcyclist was sent to the hospital.

A 54-year-old female car driver has been arrested on Nov. 20 after a hit-and-run accident on Nov. 19 at the junction of Sims Avenue and Sims Way.

She was arrested for dangerous driving causing grievous hurt, police told Mothership.

The woman is also being investigated for failing to stop after an accident and failing to render assistance to the injured, police said.

Police investigations are currently ongoing.

Hit and run

On Nov. 19, a BMW was seen running a red light and hitting a motorcycle along Sims Avenue towards Geylang.

The driver then allegedly drove off afterwards.

A 58-year-old male motorcyclist was conveyed conscious to the hospital.

What happened

Dashcam footage showed the BMW travelling across the junction despite the traffic light turning green for vehicles heading towards the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) tunnel.

The BMW narrowly avoided two oncoming vehicles before hitting the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was thrown off the bike and landed on the road.

A passerby and another motorcyclist rushed to check on the victim, who appeared motionless for a while before eventually coming to.

According to the caption in the post, the BMW driver did not stop after the collision and left the scene.
