A lone bear cub was spotted seemingly in distress along a highway near Kuantan, Malaysia on Nov. 3.

A video shared on TikTok on Nov. 3 showed it rolling over continuously on the road at 12:31pm.

The incident occurred on the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2), according to the user who uploaded the video.

According to New Straits Times (NST), the bear later disappeared after authorities arrived at the scene.

Kept rolling over on the road

In the seven-second clip captured from within a person's vehicle, the bear cub could be seen rolling over on its back six times at the rightmost lane.

It appeared to have done so while in pain.

A dark-coloured car was seen steering away from the cub, and multiple unidentified debris scattered across the ground near it.

It was not clear whether the cub was injured or involved in a collision with a vehicle on the road.

"I thought it was a motorcycle rider who got into a crash": Commuter

Another video shared on Facebook on Nov. 4 by user Khairul Nizam showed multiple vehicles slowing down and keeping to the left side of the road as the bear writhed around.

Khairul said he was shocked, and thought that it was a motorcycle rider who was knocked down as the size of the bear was similar to that of a human.

He added that he only realised that it was a bear once his vehicle got closer.

"It was trying to get up but couldn't. Maybe it broke (a bone) or something," he wrote.

Khairul immediately reported the incident to highway authorities, reported NST.

According to Terengganu Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) director Loo Kean Seong, six officers arrived at 1:30pm to look for the bear.

However, it was no longer at the scene.
