6-vehicle collision along PIE sends 6 to hospital

UPDATE on Nov. 26 at 1:50pm: This article has been updated with a statement from SCDF.

Six people were sent to hospital after a chain collision along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) involving five cars and a van on Nov. 26.

Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed with Mothership that they were alerted to the accident along PIE towards Tuas at around 7:15am.

The aftermath

Footage of the accident's aftermath shared to Facebook showed a line vehicles along the left-most lane of the expressway.

The collision appeared to have taken place near the Jalan Bahar exit towards Tuas.

The front and rear bumpers of some of the vehicles involved had caved in due to chain collision.

SCDF personnel and an SCDF emergency vehicle were also spotted at the scene.

Police told Mothership that a 53-year-old male car driver and five van passengers, aged between 26 and 61, were conveyed conscious to the hospital.

SCDF said that five persons were conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

Another person was brought to National University Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
