2 Boat Quay eateries suspended & fined for infestation on premises, failure to register assistant
Both shops are closed from Nov. 19 to Dec. 2, 2024.
Two eateries along Boat Quay have been suspended for two weeks from Nov. 19 to Dec. 2, 2024, for failing to keep their premises free of infestation.
According to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), Shandong Restaurant at 69 Boat Quay and Beijing Roast Duck House at 68 Boat Quay have accumulated 12 demerit points each.
Each received a S$800 fine.
Aside from failing to keep their premises infestation-free, the two eateries also failed to register assistants.
All food handlers working in the suspended premises must re-attend and pass the level one food safety course before they can resume work as food handlers.
In addition, all food hygiene officers working in the suspended premises, if any, must re-attend and pass the level three food safety course.
SFA said it takes a serious view of these offences.
It added that it would like to remind food business operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices at all times.
This includes engaging only registered food handlers and ensuring upkeep and maintenance of licensed premises, including toilets.
SFA said it will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone found to be in violation of the Environmental Public Health Act.
Members of the public who come across poor food safety practices in food establishments can provide feedback via the online feedback form (https://www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback) or to call 68052871 with details for follow-up investigations.
