Woman loses RM1,500 (S$460) travelling from JB to S'pore, M'sian immigration officers help her find it
Sweet story.
A woman who was on her way to Singapore from Johor Bahru was horrified when she found that she had lost RM1,500 (S$462).
The woman, Mdm Eng, had been on the train on Oct. 7 at around noon.
By the time she realised her money was gone, she was already on the Singapore side and reported the issue to the Singapore immigration officer.
As she was unsure of where she might have left it, the officer allowed her to go back on the train to search for it.
However, she was unable to find it, Eng's daughter-in-law, Sukie Tay, told Mothership.
The immigration officer subsequently advised her to file a police report.
Helped to contact the JB side
As Eng was "in a rush", she decided not to file the police report and instead give up the money.
But before she left, the Singapore immigration officer helped her to contact their counterparts over at JB, informing them of the situation.
In the end, the officers discovered the money at the JB side, Tay said.
"They contacted my mother-in-law immediately after [they] found [it], and the full amount was returned," she added.
"Truly honest"
Sharing the post about the incident on Facebook, Tay expressed her gratitude to the "truly honest and dedicated" Johor immigration officers.
"In times like this, it’s heartwarming to know that there are still people out there who go above and beyond to help others. I am incredibly grateful for this officer’s honesty and professionalism," she wrote.
She also posted a photo of Eng smiling with the immigration officers, holding up the recovered money.
"A huge thank you to the Johor immigration team for restoring my faith in the kindness of humanity!"
