AirAsia's Tony Fernandes takes Thai Airways flight, claims own airline 'sold out'
Not his first time he didn't take his own airline because it "sold out", apparently.
AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes has once again flown abroad with an airline other than his own.
His reason?
Flights on AirAsia were reportedly not available.
"Again sold out"
In an Instagram post on Oct. 27, the 60-year-old CEO of Capital A Berhad, the parent company of AirAsia, said that he was "continuing" his travels to Beijing and that he was flying with Thailand airline Thai Airways.
Fernandes said he "fly more than a crew" and that AirAsia has "again sold out".
His post garnered mixed reactions online, with one Instagram commenter saying that it was a "smart move" due to a "better user's experience flying with Thai Airways".
Another claimed that four of his AirAsia flights got delayed in the same week.
Took flights under other airlines previously
This was not the first time that Fernandes had flown in a different airline.
He also documented his recent flight with Hong Kong airline Cathay Pacific on Oct. 22, citing "no seats in AirAsia".
Fernandes also commended the flight's economy seat as "we got more space".
On Dec. 5, 2023, he also took a Singapore Airlines flight.
In an Instagram post, which was later removed, he wrote: "No seat on @flyairasia for three flights, so had to take @singaporeair".
