It has been a cool, cool day in Singapore on Oct. 14 thus far.

Rain started falling on various parts of the island since midnight on Monday, bringing with it cool weather.

But the cooling phenomenon has not been even across the country.

West side cooler

The west side of Singapore lodged temperatures of about 23.5°C just after noon, which was more than 1.5°C lower than the east.

Temperatures at Changi was about 25.1°C at the same time.

West recorded higher rainfall

The lower temperatures in the west tracks with the higher amount of rainfall received on the western half of the island over a 12-hour period from midnight.

About 143.8mm of rain fell on the Kent Ridge and Buona Vista regions over 12 hours since midnight.

In Ulu Pandan, 127.6mm of rainfall was recorded.

The highest precipitation recorded in the east was at Simei, which received 73.6mm of rainfall over 12 hours.

However, by about 1:20pm, the conditions in the west and east got balmier.

This left only central Singapore significantly cooler.
