S'pore bidder to buy Cole Palmer's Chelsea jersey for S$58,700
The attacking midfielder scored 4 goals against Brighton in the first half of a Premier League game.
A bidder from Singapore put in a bid of S$58,692 (£34,411) for the signed jersey that Chelsea player Cole Palmer wore in the 4-2 victory over Brighton on Sep. 28.
The match saw the attacking midfielder score all four goals in the first half of a Premier League game.
It marked the first of its kind in the English football league.
The jersey went on sale that day on the MatchWornShirt website, which auctions worn and signed football jerseys for charity.
Bids for the sporting memorabilia closed on Oct. 5.
S$1,400 (£837) more than the runner-up's bid
The product description stated that "Palmer wore this shirt for the full 90 minutes" of the game.
Other bidders included those from the U.S., the United Kingdom, Japan, and China.
The winning bid from Singapore was around S$1,400 (£837) more than the runner-up.
Eight other bidders from Singapore also tried their luck securing the memorabilia, with one submitting a bid of S$55,800 (£32,736).
The website stated that the club will donate net proceeds to the Chelsea F.C. Foundation.
The foundation has numerous initiatives focused on employment, education, and crime reduction.
It also offers football development programmes.
Palmer may have made history on Sep. 28, yet he is far from pleased.
The 22-year-old told BBC that he should have been able to score five or six goals in the match.
"I try and play every game the best I can," Palmer said.
