Skip bin at HDB Hub in Toa Payoh catches fire
One person felt unwell but declined to be sent to the hospital.
A fire involving discarded items in a skip bin at the Housing & Development Board (HDB) Hub in Toa Payoh broke out on Oct. 2, 2024.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed with Mothership that they were alerted to the fire at Basement 3 of No. 530, Lorong 6 Toa Payoh, at approximately 12:25 pm.
One person felt unwell
Firefighters extinguished the blaze using a water jet.
One individual who felt unwell was assessed by an SCDF paramedic but declined to be taken to the hospital.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Many evacuated
A Mothership reader in the vicinity reported seeing crowds of people outside the hub around 1:10 pm.
There were around 10 SCDF personnel and two SCDF vehicles on-site.
Longer waiting times
Customers may experience longer wait times for appointments due to the disruption caused by the fire, HDB said in a Facebook post.
"Our foremost consideration is the safety of our staff, customers and members of the public at HDB Hub. We thank the public for their patience."
