Former Singtel headquarters Comcentre has been fully vacated and covered up, leading up to its demolition.

Comcentre opened in 1979, coinciding with Singapore's 100th year of telephone service.

Singtel said that the building was vacated in April 2024, and employees were relocated to temporary offices at other Singtel premises across Singapore.

They have also partnered with real estate company Lendlease to transform Comcentre into a "state-of-the-art office development" that will provide a greener, smarter and more collaborative work environment.

"Comcentre has served as innovation central for decades and its redevelopment is a strategic move that will ensure Singtel continues to lead in the 5G era and beyond," Singtel Group Chief Executive Officer Yuen Kuan Moon said.

New development

A new development comprising two 20-storey buildings of premium-grade office space will replace Comcentre, a press release in June said.

It will be a S$3 billion, net zero energy development that will incorporate digital technologies.

The development is expected to have a total gross floor area in excess of 110,000 square metres.

At ground level, a large sheltered arcade and vibrant urban space will offer almost 3,000 square metres of F&B, lifestyle and retail space, including Singtel’s new flagship store.

The proposed design also includes an elevated rooftop park featuring a 300-person auditorium, a running and walking track and integrated wellness hub.

It is slated to be completed in 2028.
