S'porean wins Jay Chou 'rare tennis racket' contest, gets free ticket to Taipei show
Very lucky.
Jay Chou recently initiated a concert ticket giveaway on Instagram, challenging fans to find rare tennis rackets that he has never seen before.
He wrote in an Oct. 4 Instagram post that he has been obsessed with finding "weird and rare" tennis rackets on the internet.
The contest
The contest was open to participants worldwide.
To enter, they had to upload images of "weird and rare" tennis rackets on their social media feeds and tag Chou. He'd then pick winners and gift them with concert tickets.
In his hashtags, Chou noted that he has seen "a lot" of unique rackets, but antique and custom rackets do not qualify.
The contest has since been concluded, with Chou announcing the winners on his Instagram stories.
Among the five winners worldwide is one Singaporean fan whose surname is Lin.
In an Instagram post, Lin revealed that she created a new account specifically for the contest (@flying.tonkatsu), posting 12 tennis rackets she found online and generating another six using AI.
Here are her racket submissions:
She mentioned that the upcoming concert in Taipei will be her 25th time watching Chou perform live, in addition to attending three of his concerts this week.
Lin recalled Chou's past question of whether fans would still attend his concerts when he turns 80, affirming her commitment to remain a loyal fan.
"[Chou] used to love asking if we, fans, would still be at his concerts when he’s like, 80 years old. I always said yes, and I never go back on my word. So that’s that."
She concluded her post by expressing gratitude to Chou for "everything".
Chou is set to perform at the Singapore National Stadium for three consecutive nights — Oct. 11 to 13.
