In another world, Mandpop singer Jay Chou could've been a tennis star.

In an Instagram reel on Jun. 23, 2024, Chou reflected:

“Sometimes, I think I might have started tennis a bit too late. If I had picked it up as a kid instead of just last year, maybe you’d see me on the court rather than on stage.”

Tennis racket contest

Recently, he launched a concert ticket giveaway on Instagram, challenging fans to find rare tennis rackets he’s never encountered before.

The contest concluded with five winners, including one from Singapore.

But the end of the contest didn’t stop Singapore Sports Hub from extending an invitation to Chou.

Commenting on Chou's Instagram post, Singapore Sports Hub wrote:

"Since you're coming to our venue anyway [to perform], why don’t you come and play a match with us? If we lose, we will invite you to come to the WTA event that we hosting in January as a VVVVVIP"

Chou is set to perform at the Singapore National Stadium for three consecutive nights from Oct. 11 to 13.

WTA 250 tournament

The WTA tennis competition will be hosted by Singapore in January 2025 at the newly opened Kallang Tennis Hub, Singapore’s first international tournament-ready indoor tennis facility.

This tournament is part of the 2025 Hologic WTA Tour calendar, featuring over 50 events across 26 countries and regions.
