A tropical storm swept through the northeastern region of Philippines on Oct. 24, leaving severe flooding and landslides in its wake.

Internationally termed "Tropical Storm Trami", and known in the Philippines as "Kristine", the storm has killed dozens of people and forced many more out of their homes.

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) have since announced its efforts to help the country tide over the aftermath of the storm.

The plane aims to help the Philippines government provide airlift support for its people, by delivering humanitarian aid supplies to affected communities.

The SAF said its contributions "underscore the warm and friendly bilateral and defence ties" between the two countries, as well as the cooperation in the area of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR).
