Not everything goes according to plan.

A Scoot flight made an unplanned landing in Batam while on its journey from Surabaya to Singapore on Oct. 25, to the surprise of passengers onboard.

It was scheduled to land in Singapore at 1:35pm, and eventually arrived about three hours later, after being diverted due to bad weather.

What happened

A user named Angie posted on TikTok about the incident.

@boredinsg Why did Scoot have to land at Batam midway flying from Surabaya to Singapore? What a service. Please give refund! #scoot #sq #airlines #fy #fyp #foryoupage #pilot #aircraft ♬ original sound - Angie

In the video, a Scoot pilot can be seen standing at the front of the plane with a microphone in hand.

"Obviously, I will make sure all of you reach Singapore safe and sound," the pilot said.

He continued to reassure the passengers, saying that they were working with the ground staff to resolve the situation and coordinating with the authorities in Batam.

Responding to a comment under the TikTok video, Angie said the pilot explained that the sudden detour was due to bad weather.

There appeared to be thunderstorms at the Singapore Changi Airport area from 2pm to 4pm, as recorded by Weather Spark.

Netizens commented that though the delay was frustrating, it was better than having one's safety compromised.

Others joked that she could take the ferry back in the meantime.

A ferry from Batam Centre to HarbourFront Centre takes approximately an hour and ten minutes.

Scoot apologises for the inconvenience caused

A Scoot spokesperson told Mothership that Scoot flight TR263 operating from Surabaya to Singapore was diverted to Batam due to bad weather on Oct. 25.

The flight, which landed in Batam at 2:42pm (SGT), proceeded to depart from the city at 4:17pm.

It landed in Singapore at 4:34pm on the same day.

"Scoot apologises for the disruption and inconvenience caused," the spokesperson said.
