Three Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) warrant officers were each given an affray charge on Sep. 27 after they allegedly "disturbed public peace" by fighting at a karaoke bar in Jurong East at around 8:06pm on Jun. 28.

The three officers are second warrant officer Ng Zhi Wei Ranger, 41, and third warrant officers Kevin Nicholas Simon, 34, and Kelvin Tang Chee Tat, 43, a Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) spokesperson told Mothership.

According to charge sheets, the alleged fight took place on level two of Aviary KTV at 48 Boon Lay Way.

The karaoke bar is situated at the Chevrons, a recreational club previously known as the SAF Warrant Officers and Specialist Club, according to its website.

Charge sheets did not reveal the reason for the alleged fight.

The Straits Times reported that the officers are expected to plead guilty to their respective charges on Nov. 8.

If convicted of affray, the officers could each be jailed for up to a year, fined up to S$5,000, or both.

MINDEF statement

In response to Mothership's queries, a MINDEF spokesperson confirmed that the Singapore Armed Forces is aware of the case.

"MINDEF and the SAF will consider taking further disciplinary actions against them, following the conclusion of court proceedings," the statement read.

The spokesperson added that SAF holds its service personnel to "high standards of discipline and integrity".

Service personnel who commit offences "will be dealt with in accordance with the law".

The spokesperson said that MINDEF/SAF is unable to comment further on the case at this juncture as court proceedings are ongoing.
