A man was tucking into his meal at a coffee shop in Serangoon when he was joined by something in his pants.

He panicked and leapt up, eventually managing to displace his unexpected companion: a rat.

The incident occurred at about 2pm on Oct. 19, at Block 3 Lorong Lew Lian, according to Shin Min Daily News.

Felt something in his pants

The man was dining alone when he felt something enter his pants.

"I felt something strange in my trouser leg and then I felt something moving down to my crotch," he recounted.

He acted on instinct — jumping up, shaking his legs, and pulling at his pants.

Out fell this little guy:

Store owners says rat came from outside

Upon seeing the rat, the man immediately stepped on its tail.

He then demanded an explanation from the coffee shop staff.

A female worker came along, caught the rat with a tissue, and threw it away.

Speaking to Shin Min, the person in charge of the coffee shop denied that the rat had originated from the premises.

They said that the place was disinfected regularly, so the rat might have entered from neighbouring places like the HDB estate or underground holes in the area.

"I had to rush back to work, so I couldn't wait for the coffee shop's detailed response. I have already informed the authorities about this matter," the man who found the rat in his pants said.
