Puppy tied to car & dragged 700m in Penang, M'sia
The owner claimed he didn't know his cousin had tied the puppy to the car.
A puppy in Penang was tied to a car and dragged down the road.
The owner had apparently driven for about 700 metres before a passerby alerted him to the situation.
He claimed he didn't know.
The incident was captured by another bystander and later shared on the Facebook group of a local dog rescue team, Penang Hope of Strays.
It was later revealed that the owner's cousin had allegedly tied the puppy to the car, and the owner claimed he was unaware of this until he was informed.
Injuries sustained
With help from the local animal welfare group SPCA Seberang Prai, they located the puppy’s family.
They discovered that the puppy had sustained numerous injuries and abrasions to its front and hind legs, as well as its body.
The rescue team then took the puppy to a veterinary hospital for treatment.
Owner expresses regret
A representative later visited the police station to file a report and met the owner there.
The owner insisted he had no idea his cousin had tied the puppy to the back of his car until someone alerted him, prompting him to stop and investigate.
He was apparently shocked to discover what had happened and immediately untied the puppy. He took it home, applied medication, and planned to take it to the vet the following morning.
He expressed deep regret, stating that his entire family, especially his cousin, loves the puppy very much.
He took full responsibility for the incident and hoped to have the puppy returned, an update post from the group said.
Puppy’s condition
The animal welfare group also posted another update that the puppy’s medical expenses have been covered thanks to generous donations from the public.
Currently, the puppy is in stable condition, with efforts focused on preventing infections in its wounds.
The group expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support they received.
However, as the puppy is still traumatised, they will only consider whether to return it to the owner or put it up for adoption after it fully recovers.
