2 shots fired at car outside Johor Bahru restaurant during arrest, according to diner taking cover
Shook.
Diners at a restaurant in Malaysia were in for a rude shock when shots were fired at a car in Johor Bahru on Oct. 16, 2024.
A video shared on TikTok on Oct. 20 showed customers taking cover while police reportedly attempted to arrest one driver.
The incident reportedly occurred in front of the Twin Galaxy Residences along Jalan Dato Abdullah Tahir in Taman Abad, a 15-minute drive from the Causeway.
Shots reportedly fired twice
In the 28-second clip, some customers in an unidentified restaurant could be seen looking through a glass window.
"Last Wednesday in Johor Bahru (JB), our dinner took a wild turn," the TikTok user, @omgitsyen, wrote in the caption.
A stationary dark-coloured car, which had its front and rear doors open, was parked in the driveway between the restaurant and a row of parking lots.
Shortly after, a silver car drove forward and crashed between the other car and the wall of the restaurant.
The customers immediately ran away from the window, and the camera panned to other customers who were taking cover further away from the window.
According to the person who shared the clip, two men had attempted to stop the driver of the silver car.
A plain clothes officer had reportedly fired two shots at the car, causing the driver to attempt an escape but got stuck instead.
"We ran away from the window because the man with the gun was running straight toward us, right in front of the stuck car," the user wrote.
He later turned out to be a police officer who was trying to arrest the driver of the silver car.
Two police cars arrived at the scene following the incident, according to the user.
@omgitsyen “Last Wednesday in JB, our dinner took a wild turn. We saw two men trying to stop a driver, one of them in plain clothes. Then, the man in plain clothes fired two shots at the car! The driver tried to escape, accelerating forward but got stuck between another car and the wall. People in the restaurant started screaming and shouting, ‘He has a gun!’ We ran away from the window because the man with the gun was running straight toward us, right in front of the stuck car—it turned out he was a cop trying to nab the driver! Two police cars showed up soon after. What a night! 😳🚓 #RealLifeDrama #JohorBahru #TooCloseForComfort ♬ original sound - Omg it’s Yen
