A 56-year-old man in Singapore was arrested in Bukit Merah on Oct. 19 for alleged fraudulent possession of property and suspected drug-related offences.

He was caught after a group of male passers-by assisted police officers to subdue him, according to a video shared on TikTok on Oct. 23.

In response to Mothership's queries, police confirmed that they were alerted to the scene at 107 Jalan Bukit Merah at around 5pm.

Five men helped to hold man down

In the video, around five men could be seen helping two officers to hold down a man against the ground.

They attempted to prevent him from moving by pinning down his abdomen and legs.

Another man could be seen hopping over a metal fence to pin the man down with his knees.

"A group of quick-thinking residents and workers have helped to subdue a violent man," a person filming behind the camera said.

The passers-by later left after the man was handcuffed.

He could also be heard shouting.

More officers later arrived to assist with the arrest.

At the end of the video, the man could be seen being taken into an ambulance on a stretcher.

Police confirmed that he was taken to the hospital in a conscious state.

Investigations are ongoing.
