Counting Singapore's landmarks.
Pop band OneRepublic has released a behind-the-scenes video that reveals the inspiration behind their song "Singapore".
The video created in collaboration with Universal Music Singapore (UMSG) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), highlighted the influences that shaped the track.
"Singapore" appears on their latest album, "Artificial Paradise," released in July 2024.
The band comprises lead vocalist Ryan Tedder, guitarists Zach Filkins and Drew Brown, keyboardist Brian Willett, bassist Brent Kutzle, and drummer Eddie Fisher.
The band is known for their hit songs, including "Apologize", "Counting Stars," and "Somebody To Love".
Inspiration for song
In a press statement, the band described Singapore as "eclectic" and "modern".
"When we wrote the track in Singapore, we were inspired by the colourful juxtaposition of the modern and heritage buildings set in this cultural melting pot."
The video was filmed during their recent visit to the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Grand Prix 2024.
It features lead singer Tedder and keyboardist Willett exploring notable locations such as Marina One, the Peranakan Museum, Armenian Street, and the Old Hill Street Police Station.
Willett remarked that the track serves as "an external portrayal of creativity," while Tedder praised Singapore's unique architecture, calling it a "tapestry of creativity".
This video is part of a series of STB initiatives featuring global pop acts, including Billie Eilish, Charlie Puth, and Jackson Wang, filmed at various Singapore locations.
OneRepublic last performed in Singapore on Sep. 20, 2024, during the Formula One Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2024.
