OCBC launches Disney-themed bank cards for users from age 7 as part of 5-year partnership

Disney-themed bank cards, Disney+ subscriptions to reward customers, and Disney comics on financial literacy.

These are some of the initiatives under a regional five-year collaboration between Disney and OCBC, OCBC announced in a statement released on Oct. 15.

The launch of the collaboration, on Oct. 15, was in conjunction with the soft launch of the OCBC MyOwn Account — Singapore's first digital banking account for children and youth between the ages of seven to 15.

To mark the partnership, OCBC will be revealing a slew of themed retail banking experiences and products, including a rewards programme featuring Disney+ Premium subscriptions and Disney-themed premiums.

Here's what you can expect from the collaboration:

1. Disney-themed cards and limited edition collectible pins

At present, OCBC MyOwn account users will be able to select amongst various Disney-themed cards.

Other select OCBC cards and bank accounts will feature Disney designs by mid-2025, OCBC said.

These select cards and accounts will feature exclusive Disney themes and come bundled with Disney merchandise, such as limited edition OCBC pins.

These pins, available in 20 different designs, feature popular characters like Stitch, Iron Man, Thor and characters from the Inside Out and Inside Out 2 movies.

The pins will be available for redemption in “blind packs” with selected product sign-ups, transactions or referrals.

2. Disney-themed financial literacy content

Disney stories have also been reimagined to include financial literacy tips.

Done in the form of comics, activity sheets and resources, these resources were made with young savers in mind.

The material is available both digitally, via the OCBC app and website, and in-print at the OCBC Wisma Atria branch.

Expressing his delight on the partnership, OCBC’s Head of Global Consumer Financial Services Sunny Quek shared how the themed characters "evoke an enchanting and nostalgic emotional connection".

Official launch of OCBC MyOwn Account

The OCBC MyOwn Account will officially launch on Oct. 20, 2024.

Parents who wish to open an account on behalf of their children can do so via the OCBC Digital app.
