A woman in Malaysia, who kissed a pretzel dough in an Auntie Anne's outlet in Kuala Lumpur causing it to shut down temporarily, has been fired from a Nando's outlet in the same city.

The official social media account of Nando's Malaysia posted a statement late on Oct. 17 announcing it has fired the woman, identified as Alice Chang.

This was after Chang supposedly took a selfie with a colleague at work and put it online, alongside many other photos of herself and even the food.

The caption of Chang's post, in English and Chinese, translated to: "Today I am working at Nando's Sunway Putra Mall."

The Instagram account where the post appeared seems to have been taken down, however.

Nando's Malaysia alerted

Her actions of photographing herself in the eatery led to members of the public to inform Nando's Malaysia that it was Chang who was working at the outlet.

Nando's Malaysia revealed in its statement that Chang was in a part-time role and she had just started her first day at work when she violated protocol by publishing the photos.

The Nando's Malaysia statement read:

Thank you everyone for your vigilance and concern regarding the recent hiring of Alice Chang in a part-time position at a Nando's outlet.

It was discovered that Ms. Chang had failed to disclose her previous work experiences during the hiring process.

Despite this, she had reported to her first shift earlier today and subsequently proceeded to publish photos of confidential areas of our restaurant to her social media channel, which is in clear violation of our company policies.

As a result, Ms. Chang has been dismissed with immediate effect, and she has left the restaurant premises.

Given her previous employment history, we have taken extra precautions by conducting through disinfection and deep cleaning of the outlet. We have also checked in with our team to ensure that no further issues arise from this incident.

We truly appreciate your support, concern and swift action in supporting us uphold our standards of safety, the well-being of our staff, customers and wider community.

Chang posted a screenshot of Nando's statement on her Instagram story in the evening of Oct. 18, and responded by saying she had given the boss of Nando's free publicity.

She called for other bosses to hire her, guaranteeing that she would give them "enough publicity to satisfy" them.

Background

Following Chang's firing from Auntie Anne's, she had photographed herself at a Cold Stone Creamery outlet in Pavilion Mall on Oct. 12.

The establishment released a statement in response, clarifying that Chang did not work there, but was seeking a job, and the outlet was subsequently thoroughly cleaned.

This was called into question by Chang's sister, who said she had indeed worked at Cold Stone.

Chang subsequently supposedly found work at a McDonald's outlet in KL, referred to by locals as "SS2 McDonald's".

However, her time there was also allegedly short-lived, as she was no longer working there after a few hours.

The circumstances of her short stint is mired in controversy, as Chang had posted more than once on social media that she was allegedly sexually assaulted.

According to China Press, a police report has been lodged by the manager of the McDonald's outlet in response to Chang's allegations.
