No, these aren't new toys that come with a happy meal, but they would be able to spark joy and are available for you to take home.
Meet the McBaby family: Griddles, McFlurry, McChicken, McNugget and McTootToot—five hamsters up for adoption.
The Hamster Society Singapore (HSS)'s "McBaby's Menu" Instagram post taps on the fast food chain's iconic brand colours and menu items to find adopters for the hamsters in a fun and creative way.
The post reads:
"SPECIAL MEAL: WHILE STOCKS LAST. McBaby's Meals are flying off the... shelves? wheels?? You get the idea. DON'T DELAY! APPLY TO ADOPT TODAY!!!"
What’s in a name?
Speaking to Mothership, HSS volunteer Tamara Craiu shared that the fosterers usually have the liberty of naming the hamsters, and tend to get “crazy creative” with the names.
This time, "something was in the air" and the fosterers had been "collectively hungry while discussing".
Seeing that the McBabies are siblings from the same litter, they had decided to name them as such.
The hamsters had been surrendered to HSS from an individual who had been told they had two hamsters of the same sex.
As it turned out, they were a male and female, which resulted in an unexpected litter.
How to adopt
While one may opt for a vanilla cone on a whim, these animals shouldn’t be adopted with the same mindset.
Potential adopters will need to be screened by the HSS, and be ready to commit to owning a pet.
“We require all potential adopters to adhere to our guidelines, as well as any requirements put forth by each fosterer," said Craiu.
While some of the McBaby family are currently pending adoption, there are still many other hamsters in need of forever homes too, Craiu added.
"[We're looking for] someone who is willing to provide the VERY best for their future fur-bestie!”
