Vietnam man looking for long-lost little brother adopted by S'porean family in 1994
Family reunion soon, hopefully.
A Vietnamese man is enlisting the help of the internet to get in touch with his long-lost brother after his brother was adopted by a Singaporean family in 1994.
Sharing on the Lost and Found Facebook group, Nguyen Van Quyet appealed for information on behalf of a family looking for their lost younger brother, Nguyen Van Tien.
Adopted
Nguyen shared that the younger brother was born in 1986 in Kieu Than Village in Thai Binh Province, Vietnam.
Their father was Nguyen Van Tang, and the family had another brother and sister named Van Quang and Thi Nguyet.
Tien is the youngest in the family.
Nguyen wrote that the father died early, so the mother left Tien to live with a "Mr Sau" and an uncle and auntie.
After that, Tien was adopted by a Singaporean family around 1994, when he was about nine years old.
He added that Tien would write letters often and send photos to them. However, the family has since lost contact with Tien.
"Our family has kept a handwritten letter from Tien sent back on Nov. 7, 1995, and a few photos taken with his adoptive parents.
Our family hopes that the online community will share and connect so that the family can soon find our younger brother."
Speaking to Mothership, Tien's cousin Truong, 28, said the family has been unable to "get over losing him."
"We miss him and most of all, we want to know how he is doing and if he is okay, even just know he is living," said Truong.
On the thought of reuniting with his cousin, Truong added that he and the family would feel happy and joyful as they "value family affection and blood ties as a Vietnamese tradition".
"We miss him so much and wish so much to be reunited after 30 years, no words can describe our feeling."
