A man was seen kneeling on the ground and prostrating before the HSBC Rain Vortex waterfall at Jewel Changi Airport on the morning of Oct. 25, 2024.
A video of the odd sight was subsequently shared to Chinese social media site Xiaohongshu.
The user told Mothership that her friend spotted the man dressed in black among the crowd of visitors to the waterfall at around 10:24am.
While others whipped out their cameras to capture a spray of mist being released from the top of the Jewel dome, the man got down on his knees instead.
With hands outstretched, he bowed at least twice in the direction of the waterfall.
He did not do any other gestures other than praying and gazing at the waterfall, the user said.
She added that the man attracted some stares but no one else joined him in kneeling down.
'May have mistook it for Fountain of Wealth': User
Users were just as bemused in the comments of the video.
One user opined that the man may have mistook the waterfall for the Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City.
Others suggested that he might have been recording a video.
The 40-metre-high HSBC Rain Vortex is one of the most iconic attractions at Jewel.
As the world's tallest indoor waterfall at seven storeys, it is a popular photo-taking spot for both local and foreign visitors.
