Man, 25, charged for allegedly kicking cat, stepping on its head & throwing it off 38th floor of Whampoa HDB
He also kicked the cat and stepped on its head multiple times.
A 25-year-old man was charged on Oct. 7 for allegedly throwing a cat off a Housing Development (HDB) flat at Block 78 Lorong Limau.
Appearing in court via video in a grey shirt, Ryan Tan Yi Bin was charged under the Animals and Birds Act for cruelly kicking a cat as well as stepping on its head multiple times inside the lift of the HDB block.
He then allegedly threw the cat down from the corridor of the 38th floor of the block, which resulted in its death.
Tan appeared in court through video-link and was expressionless when the charges were being read to him.
The prosecution requested no bail for Tan and that he be remanded for one week for investigations to be completed.
If found guilty, Tan could face a fine of up to S$15,000, a jail term of up to 18 months, or both.
4 cats allegedly slashed in Toa Payoh
The arrest and charging came after NParks launched an investigation into a slashing case in Toa Payoh, where four community cats fell victim.
Mothership understands that Tan was arrested amid investigations into the Toa Payoh case, but it was not mentioned in court what his involvement was.
