M'sia boy, 10, dies in crocodile attack at beach, body found without head & right arm
The boy was with a group of friends at the beach.
A 10-year-old boy in Malaysia was reportedly attacked and killed by a crocodile while out swimming at the beach with five friends on Oct. 13 morning.
Police said the body of Denis Rodi was recovered at 9:26am in Sabah at Pantai Sinakut, Tungku, according to Bernama.
The body was devoid of a head and right arm when it was found, it was reported.
Investigations revealed that the boy was swimming with five friends at the time.
The children were aged five to 10 years old, according to Sinar Harian.
A crocodile apparently bit one of them in the group and dragged him into the sea.
The time of the attack was reported as 7am.
Family members and villagers tried to search for the boy, but were unsuccessful.
The victim's stepfather later lodged a police report, and four police officers were dispatched to the scene to search with the villagers.
The boy’s body was found about 600m from where he went missing.
Sinar Harian additionally reported that the victim's family had apparently stopped the crocodile using a boat until the victim's body was released on the beach.
Subsequently, two crocodiles in the vicinity were located by the wildlife department personnel.
One shot was fired at each animal, but it was not clear if the animals were struck.
